Transitioning Careers.

I came across this article today in the NY Times( the link is above) and it was discussing people going back to community college and getting retrained.  For some it is completely changing careers, for others it’s going a different direction in the same career, and then completely starting over for some.  If you are at a crossroads in you career for whatever reason and want some direction there are so many resources available to you to get started in the right direction.

I don’t think there are enough words to explain the advantages and resources available at your local community college.  If you have lost your job, and feel like you need to explore your options the career center at your community college can help you get some direction at no cost to you.  They have career interest inventories that help reveal what your current interests are, and then a career counselor can help you brainstorm careers that include your experience and expertise.

The colleges have a number of certifications, trainings, continuing education and so much more that can help you get your career going again. The instructors at the community college level care about their students and what they are going through, they don’t just teach they are genuinely concerned about their students education and future.  You have a unique opportunity to connect with the professors and have discussions about career interests in that particular field of study or class you take.

There is something very special that the community college experience offers to the community.  The link to the Dallas County Community College district and Collin County is :

Take a look, I pray that it will bless you and give you some direction!
